Community Leaders Launch “Listen To Michigan” Campaign Urging Michigan Voters to Vote Uncommitted for Feb 27 Democratic Primary

On Tuesday, February 6, a coalition of Michigan community and Democratic Party leaders, including Dearborn community leaders, elected officials, faith leaders, voter engagement organizations, and grassroots organizers — Lexi Zeidan, Linda Sarsour, Layla Elabed, and others, held a press conference launching the “Listen To Michigan” campaign.

The initiative urges Democrats to cast an “Uncommitted” vote in the February 27 Michigan Democratic primary to demand President Biden support a ceasefire and an end to funding the war in Gaza.

This campaign seeks to mobilize Democrats and independents across Michigan, leveraging the primary as a means to express democratic dissent and demand change. Drawing inspiration from the 2008 primary, where the “uncommitted” vote was used strategically by the Obama campaign, this initiative underscores the impact of collective action through the electoral process.
